Interstate Law Degree
If you have completed your law degree at an interstate tertiary institution, then before being eligible to apply for first admission in South Australia you need to make an application to the Board of Examiners for direction as to whether the degree satisfies the admission requirements in South Australia as provided for in the LPEAC Rules 2018 r7.
Your application will need to be in the form of a letter addressed to the Board of Examiners. The letter will need to confirm that you are seeking a determination as to whether your law degree satisfies the admission requirements in South Australia.
The following will need to be annexed to your letter:
- A certified copy of your Official Academic Transcript.
- A letter from the Dean of your Law School which confirms that you obtained the degree, that the degree required completion of all the compulsory academic subjects required for admission in Australia (the Prestley 11), and that completion of the degree would satisfy the academic requirements for admission in that state.
Once you have completed your application, please email it to admissions@lawsocietysa.asn.au for review.
If your application does not require any corrections, then it will be placed before the Board of Examiners for consideration at their next available meeting. Please ensure that you familiarise yourself with the application cut off dates and Board of Examiners meeting dates located on our admissions page.
The Law Society will contact you within 5 business days after the meeting of the Board to advise you of the outcome. You will need to retain the outcome letter as it is required to be exhibited in your application for admission.
