Frequently Asked Questions
Undertaking to present a CPD session can feel daunting but the Law Society’s CPD team will be able to assist you every step of the way! Please see the frequently asked questions below for more information.
What kind of preparation (time and technology wise) is required to present a CPD session?
In order for the CPD team to coordinate the CPD session, it is best to contact them at least 6 weeks before you are ready to present the session. Information that will be needed (through liaising with the CPD team) includes:
- Topic title and session description;
- Target audience;
- Key takeaways;
- Preferred date/dates and time of presentation; and
- Any co-presenters and nominated Chair.
One week before the presentation, the CPD team will need to be provided with:
- Session materials, either paper and/or PPT slides;
- Final nominated Chair;
- Short presenter bio; and
- Copyright consent for distribution of session materials.
What kind of experience does the Law Society look for in presenters?
We welcome presentations from legal practitioners with advanced experience, or any specific experience that can be shared with the profession. Recent presenters have included barristers, legal practitioners from the Legal Services Commission and the Crown Solicitor’s Office, and from private practice. We also have presenters from other industries, such as finance, accounting and consulting.

What are the available timeslots and formats?
Depending on the month, we may have limited availability, but it is generally at the discretion of the presenter. We recommend you get in touch with the CPD team to coordinate a time which suits you best. We try to hold hybrid sessions for majority of our CPD sessions so as to get maximum engagement, but presenters can choose to present live in-person only or has a hybrid.
Can I suggest an individual who I think would make a great CPD presenter?
Absolutely! We welcome suggestions from individuals who know of someone who has great experience and expertise and would be able to impart their wisdom to the profession, as well as those who want to present a session themselves. We will be discreet and do not need to mention who suggested them if you would prefer to remain anonymous but we do need their contact details and a summary of why you think they would make an excellent CPD presenter.
