How can I present a CPD session, and what do I need to prepare?
A standard CPD session runs for approximately 60 to 90 minutes, including 10 minutes for Q&A at the end of your presentation.
To allow the CPD team sufficient time to coordinate your session, please get in touch at least 8 weeks prior to your preferred presentation date. This ensures availability and allows time to confirm a date and time for the Society to host your session.
To book your CPD session, please provide:
- Preferred month, day and time of your presentation
- Session title
- Session outline (can include dot points of key learning objectives)
- Target audience / Area of Law
- Skill level: Junior or Refresher, Intermediate, Advanced, or All Levels
- Short bio and headshot (optional)
- Any co-presenters and nominated Chair (these can be confirmed after the session is launched)

What kind of experience does the Law Society look for in presenters?
We welcome presentations from legal practitioners with advanced experience, or any specific experience that can be shared with the profession. Recent presenters have included barristers, legal practitioners from the Legal Services Commission and the Crown Solicitor’s Office, and from private practice. We also have presenters from other industries, such as finance, accounting and consulting.

What are the available timeslots and presentation formats?
Our standard format is hybrid, as it tends to attract higher engagement and is frequently requested by practitioners. However, it is entirely up to the presenter, you may choose to present in-person only, online only, or in a hybrid format. We use Zoom Webinar to host online sessions.
Typical CPD session timeslots:
- Monday: 4:00 PM – 5:30 PM
- Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday:
- Morning: 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM
- Afternoon: 4:00 PM – 5:30 PM
- Friday: 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM
We can also accommodate after-hours sessions, including:

- 5:30 PM – 7:00 PM
If you have a preferred time outside of these, feel free to discuss it with the CPD team, we’ll do our best to accommodate your availability.
Can I suggest an individual who I think would make a great CPD presenter?
Absolutely! We welcome suggestions from individuals who know of someone who has great experience and expertise and would be able to impart their wisdom to the profession, as well as those who want to present a session themselves. We will be discreet and do not need to mention who suggested them if you would prefer to remain anonymous but we do need their contact details and a summary of why you think they would make an excellent CPD presenter.
What should I expect on the lead up and day of my CPD presentation?
One week before, the CPD team will email you a reminder, a list of current registrants, and a note to submit your materials at least 2 days prior.
The day before, you’ll receive a final guest list, your session materials, and a Session or Chair Guide.
On the day, please arrive 15 minutes early for a quick briefing. The CPD team will handle setup, tech, and support throughout. If you have a Chair, they’ll welcome attendees and introduce you. Online attendees can engage with you via Zoom chat or Q&A.
